Aftercast

Privacy policy

Last updated 18 August 2026

Aftercast records, scores and publishes moments from live streams. This page describes exactly what that involves for your data. Where a number appears below, it is the number the software actually enforces.

What we hold

Your account. An email address and a password hash. Nothing else is required to use the product.

Stream activity. When you link a platform, we receive chat messages, follows, subscriptions, cheers, raids and viewer counts for your channel. This is what clip detection reads; without it the product has almost nothing to work from.

Capture data. The desktop app runs on your machine and watches OBS. Your full recording stays on that machine by default. Only short segments around scored moments are uploaded, plus a compressed audio track used for transcription. Uploading the whole recording is a setting that is off unless you turn it on.

Platform tokens. Stored so we can act on your behalf — read chat, publish a clip. You can disconnect any platform at any time, which revokes our access.

How long

Storage expires automatically. These are lifecycle rules on the storage account, not a promise to tidy up later:

DataDeleted after
Audio used for transcription1 day
Full recordings, if you enabled archiving30 days
Uploaded segments and preview proxies30 days
Finished clips180 days

Account and workspace records are kept until you delete the workspace.

Who else sees it

We do not sell data and we do not use it to train models. It reaches other companies only where the product cannot work otherwise:

Getting it back, or getting rid of it

Export. Settings → Privacy produces everything your workspace owns as one file. It is generated from the same table list the isolation tests run against, so it cannot quietly go out of date as the product grows.

Deletion. The same page schedules the workspace for erasure. It is not immediate: there is a 7-day window in which you can cancel, because the request is irreversible and is sometimes made in anger or by mistake. After that the data is removed.

Chat messages from your viewers belong to people who are not our users. They are held only as long as the stream data they belong to, and go with it.

Where it lives

Canada — the Canada Central Azure region, apart from the AI models, which run in the United States (Azure OpenAI, East US 2).
